This mortuary theme seems fairly common among the Dunn's. There was a very successful funeral home in Saylersville, KY (Magoffin County?) run by the Dunn family, it may still be in business today. My ggrandfather's brother was among the family that ran it. It later merged or may have originally been named Prater-Dunn Funeral Home I have seen reference to a book or list of folks that were taken care of by this funeral home as the funeral home kept fairly good records. A reference to see is http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymagoff/lookup.htm . The time it operated is 1930 - 1970. My line: John (Va) > John > Asa (KY) > Leander (KY) > McKinley (KY) > Donald (OH) Asa is thought to be from a second marriage of John Dunn. The first marriage was in the Taulbee family.
My guncle Jerry Dunn m. Ida Moore and they lived in Indls in the early part of the 1900's. Mom seems to remember Ida helping someone get a funeral home started-don't know what she did. Mom seems to remember a name--Beanblossom. Don't know if the home was there or if that was the name of the person who was starting it. Does that ring a bell with anyone? She seemed to think they may have been related-maybe a cousin or just a friend, but Jerry came from Carroll Co. Ky. and there was a Dunn/???funeral home there at one time. Jerry and Ida had two children, Glen and Leatha living in Indpls about 1930. Thanks, Roslyn
