    3. Hello all, Due to the number of folks that seem to dislike the copies of the web board posts that appear on our mailing list and the number of folks who don't seem to understand how to respond properly to them, I am considering asking that the gateway which allows these copies to come through be closed. If the majority of the list would like the copies to continue, I will leave things as they are (with the reminder that in order to post a reply to these messages, you will need to post it directly to the board address listed in the email, NOT to the mailing list). BUT, if the majority of folks want the messages stopped, I will have the gateway closed and we will no longer get copies of the web postings. So that I can get a fair and equitable accounting of the consensus of the majority, I have created a "web poll" for voting. Please visit it and cast your vote either "yes" for continuing to allow the copies, or "no" for closing the gateway and stopping the copies. I will leave the poll up until midnight CST on Friday so you will have two days to get there and vote. I do not want to start a discussion on this "on-list" but will be more than happy to take your comments and concerns into account if you include them with your vote. After the voting is closed I will tally the votes and review the comments and will post to the list to let you know the results. The address for the poll is http://jadis.dyndns.org:8080/genealogy/dunn/poll.html Just a few points to consider before voting... 1) If the gateway is closed, we lose a potential source of "connections" via the list and each member would have to be responsible for checking the web boards occasionally on their own if they so choose. 2) Most people know how to delete and can just delete the extraneous messages if they choose whereas if the gateway is closed, they don't have the choice. 3) The web boards allow for an additional outlet/inlet for researchers looking for their ancestors. When the gateway is closed, that potential is lost. Now, I personally don't care one way or the other. I have to monitor the boards anyway as part of my "job", so either way is fine with me. Just want to do what the majority decides... THanks! Christi How can one ancestor cause so much TROUBLE?? 3. Hi What I have done with my lists is made it such that the board posts bounce to me and then I can either forward them on to the lists or delete the "Thanks very much" ones. Could not the Dunn list perhaps operate the same way, then no 'connection' posts would be lost?
