Fellow Dunn Researchers: To those researching John Dunn of Monroe Co., (W)V who came there abt. 1782 from Va, who served in the RevWar, we all know what has to be done. Original research in Rockingham & Albemarle Counties, Virginia where he was previous to coming to Monroe Co. If all of us did a little digging into extant records I think that we could solve the mysteries. I personally think that his father is John Dunn of Albemarle who married Anna Martin and probably two other women Barbara Newbill (5 children) and Ann Cauthorn (4 children) according to Jess Dunn. John Dunn of Albemarle descends from Thomas Dunn born in England 1606. Why, do I think so. Because his abstracted RevWar records say he was living with his father in Albemarle Co., VA at time of serving in RevWar. I have just sent off for BL Bounty Land Records at the Library of Virginia for Thomas Dunn son of the above John Dunn who died in the RW. Some BL land was given to his oldest brother William Dunn then deceased (1831), to William's son Edmund (in 1831). From the Abstracts of said Bounty Land Records in Virginia Soldiers of 1776. If this proves to be what I think it is, it will prove that John of Monroe Co. is the son of John Dunn of Albemarle. Lets' all get to work instead of waiting for someone to do the work for us. If anyone finds a piece of the puzzle please post it. Kate Ross __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
