Geraldine: I don't know why they moved to White Co.Tenn. They only appear on the 1830 census. The librarian there in White Co. found an entry in a book where it tells about John Dunn being court, apparently he had owed a large amount of money. I know they were in Pendleton Dist SC on 1810 census. I can't find them at all in 1820..not in SC or TN. I didn't look in Ky;but maybe i should check out Wayne Co.I see it's right on the Ky/Tn line. Anything is possible. Your Allen would have been in the same age bracket as the Children of my John Dunn. We figure the first son,James, was b.abt 1804-06.by averaging the ages he gave in subsequent census'. I've seen your group before;but haven't figured it out yet. I know that our John must have had siblings. I do think John's father was the immigrant.(no proof,of course). And the deal about "John Riley" ...James named his 2nd son James Riley. He also had a William S.;Mary E.;Ellen;George; Armisted C.(prob.Clarence);;Thomas J.;and Marion H. got a few of your names, don't we?? Maybe i should check out the Ky.census for 1820. Keep in touch here.I'll post anything i find,of course. I wondered if John's wife,Mary was named Riley. just a thought. I found a ton of Riley's on microfisch records in Pendleton Co.SC and guess what??? They were all living in the Cherokee lands, because they were Cherokee. Some even had real Cherokee first names. I think anyone looking in Tn. should also look in In. Now that they use two letters for states instead of spelling Tenn and Ind. it might be those were translated incorrectly. If you hve a brick wall there, it might pay off to check. Roslyn ----- Original
