Mother's parents were Alonzo "Lonnie" Dunn and Maggie (unknown). Maggie died approx 1911 in Yazoo,MS leaving two daughters. There was a son Henry who died as a small child. After the funeral, Lonnie disappeared and neighbors took Fanny (changed name to Frances in mid-twenties) and Willola into their home. The two girls were sent to Palmer Orphanage in Columbus, MS in 1911 or 1912. Mother was 5 or 6 yrs.old and Willola was about 3. Lonnie came to the orphanage around 1916 to see the girls and he had remarried. Believed to be living in Alabama at that time. Never seen or heard from since that day. Records were destroyed by fire at the orphanage. Mississippi did not keep good records during this time so I am having great difficulty tracing my roots. Maybe there are descendants from the second marriage? I would appreciate any help you can give me or tell me where to search.
