My G G grandfather was William Dunn 1819 - 1865, he was son of another William Dunn who owned property 109 acres at Ardground and 43 acres at Kilcatten, there were related Dunn families in all surrounding farms. Supposedly they all descended from a William Dunn and Jane Wallace who in 1650 sailed from Scotland to Ireland. Another brother of that William named George Dunn also settled in 1650 and married a Catholic. Jane Wallace the wife of William Dunn was a Scotch Presbyterian they settled in Lower Cumber Derry. Their children consisted of Robert, William born around 1685, George, Andrew, Thomas, James, Alexander, John, Jane and Martha Dunn. Martha Dunn married Long and two of their children were surgeons in the British fleet. Of the Dunn children of William and Jane; ! two were Captains in East India vessels, four were farmers in Londonderry including William, one had a bleach green, one was a doctor and another was a minister. Jane Wallace was said to be a descendant of Sir William Wallace. William Dunn born around 165? took hold of two farms in Ardground abt 1690 which stayed in the Dunn family until 1886 when James Dunn died. He left the two farms to a cousin James Henderson of Lisdillon. Other connecting farms had immediate Dunn relations on them. The connection between these Dunn farms needs to be proven. My G G grand dad William Dunn 1819 was married to Catherine Millar, daughter of Robert Millar a farmer from Brackfield, Londonderry. I am trying to link William Dunn's 1819 - 1865 line to the 1650 William Dunn and connect other nearby Dunn families. Any pre 1850 baptism certs or marriage certs or other info showing Dunn connections to this Ardground area in Londonderry would be greatly appreciated Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
