    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: SandraKKidd Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dunn/6462.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are only a couple of Dunns living in Louisiana in 1910-1930 (per the US census records) with Indiana birthplaces: an Oliver Dunn is on the 1900-1930 censuses in New Orleans, b 1847 in Indiana; and an Ephraim Dunn is in Calcasieu, Louisiana, on the 1920 census, born in Indiana in 1871. I know it's hard when your parents have passed away and you have no information. But if you have any cousins on the Dunn side (through any relatives of your father), you should follow up with them to see what they might know. Otherwise, try to determine when and where your parents were born (their death records or Social Security application records can help), and check for birth records, the marriage record for your parents, city directories, and any military records if your father served in the military. If you know your parents lived in small towns, look for Dunns still living in the area and write to them. They may be your cousins. I am not related to this family--but from experience I know that you will have more luck if you write down everything you can about your parents and their lives, before trying to go backwards in time. Good luck to you, Samuel. If your parents were born before 1930 and you will email me with what you know about their general birthdates/places, I will try to look them up for you on the census.
