At one point in late 1700s, I believe he and his 3 brothers lived in Philadelphia. He had a wife and 3 children (boy, Joseph, and 2 young girls). After wife & daughters died, John Cartwright Dunn and son Joseph went to Nansemond Co, Va. His brothers moved to Georgia. In Nansemond Co, Va, John Cartwright married Charlotte Williams, daughter of John and Aramenta Williams, and they subsequently had a son born John Cartwright Dunn (Jr) in 1804. One month later, John C Dunn Sr died. Charlotte raised the step-son Joseph and son John C Jr, but died when John C Jr was 12. I do not know what happened to Joseph, but John C Jr ended up in Alabama where he married Nancy Mozelle Stanley and they then moved to Texas. Might this family be part of your research?
