    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: patoneal39 Surnames: Dunn, Bardin, O'Neal Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dunn/3473.1.1.3.1.1.3.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm searching for Wesley Dunn, father of James Thomas Dunn (b 1853, Conecuh Co. AL), and his wife, Dorcas Lucretia ?. James Thomas married Martha Ellen Bardin (b 1866, Monroe Co. AL) and they had 8 children: George Wesley, Emma Lee, Sanford Andrew, Charles Emmett, James Thomas Jr., Mary Lucretia, Cecil Clyde and Ernest Carl. Emma Lee was my grandmother; in 1906 she married Charles Alva O'Neal (b 1884, Russell Co. AL) in Sanford AL. I copied this information from my grandmother's old bible back in the 50s. In searching for Wesley and Dorcas I found an 1860 census for Wilcox Co listing Wesley and Dorcas Dunn (both 30) with children Leman, Jackson, Sarah and Jane (or James) with a Mason family. The writing was hard to read. I also came across an 1870 Census for Wilcox Co listing an E.W. (48) and Dorcas (45) Dunn with children William, Thomas, Benjamin, David, Frances, George, Maggie and Julie. This same family is found in the 1880 census for Conecuh Co. with tha addition of! Samuel and a nephew and mother (after reading your post, I think she is Phadran). E.W. and Dorcas are also found in the 1900 census for Butler Co. with two daughters and three grandchildren. The 1900 census for Conecuh Co shows Thomas Dunn (James Thomas) and Martha with 6 of their children plus Martha's mother and brother. Questions: Could E. W. be Elise Wesley and could this be my Wesley? Is his Thomas my James Thomas, who apparently was known as just Thomas? If these aren't the same people then does any of this ring a bell? Where does the "1860 Wesley and Dorcas" fit in? Their names are right but the names Leman and Jackson don't square. Anyway, your post was the first I've read that seemed to offer any information on these Dunns of mine. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Do you have info contacts that I am seeking? Involved Early or Mid 1700s DUNN family located in Abbeville, Donalds, Honeypath (?spelling), Hodges and Old Greenville Presbyterian Church areas, near the old Turkey Creek or Dunns Creek of S.C. (early land grant issued here). I am stalled at present on the PARENTAGE of James (nmn) Dunn and the families arrival in U.S. , My info. states only his birth and death dates, and probability that the family arrived in Charleston,S.C., moving then to Pennsylvania, and finally through Wesrtern N.C. into Greenwood county area and Dunns Creek, of S.C.. James married (?in S.C./Virginia) Agnes (Agness) Agnew (1740-1815). Both are buried in The Old Greenville Presbyterian Church cemetery at Donalds,Hodges, WareShoals area, near what was once Turkey Creek and later changed to Dunns Creek.
