Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin J. Van Wagenen and Sarah Ean. In 1870c T/Esopus he was employed at the Powder Mill. In 1875c at 47 and 44, he was a farmer living in a frame house valued at $400. In 1900c at 62 he was widowed and living with his daughter Agatha, age 37. Theri children were: 1. Helen Jane, b 1851, d 8/2/1854 age 2-10-28 (gravestone), buried Rosendale Plains Cemetery. 2. Emily C., b 1854, d 1941. In 1860c T/Esopus age 6; In 1875c age 20, listed as Amelia. Buried Rosendale Plains Cemetery. 3. Caroline, b 1855 (per census) - not in 1860 census. 4. Albert, b 1859 (per census); in 1860c age 2; in 1875 age 16, listed as Albert D. 5. Ida J., b 5/20/1860 Esopus (town clerk record), d 1/8/1942, m 3/7/1888 Esopus Methodist Episcopal to Joshua V. Freer, b 11/10/1853, d 11/11/1945 (Kingston City Clerk), son of William H. Freer and marie D. Hotaling. In 1860c she was age 3 months. 6. Lucia Agatha, b 3/__/1863, d 1943. In 1875c age 12 listed as Lucia L.A. Dunn; in 1900c t/Esopus, age 37, with widowed father. 7. Gideon C., b 1864 Rosendale, d 1939, m 12/15/1891 (New Paltz Town Clerk) to Ida C. Fish, b 1865 Rifton Glen, d 9/1/1953, daughter of Lorenzo Fish and Maria Silkworth. Buried Rosendale Plains Cemetery. In 1875c age 10; in 1925c a Tillson carpenter; Their children (1) Everett m.
