    1. Re: William Dunn of Blair Co. PA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hlT.2ACEB/3693.1.2.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I actually did not get any of the messages. My e-mail again is [email protected] I got that information from Catholic records. In the 1870 census, Louisa is mentioned. I at first thought that they had just miswrote Lucretia's name because they were approximately the same age. I have not found a child named William that could account for the marriage to Lucretia, so have assumed Louisa was married to William of 1817. They ended up having I believe 3 children, though they all disappear after William moves in with John (or vice versa). My thought is that possibly with William's age (he would've been close to 60 when Louisa died), a relative of hers may have taken the children, though I found no record of them period after the 1870 census (not even as a Dunn in another household). Censi are not foolproof, but usually if someone has a different name in a household they will put that name in. I also know Lucretia was the official witness at the wedding, so there is definitely some connection there. The other thing could be since Louisa was not Catholic! , there could've been some hard feelings among the siblings about that. Lucretia married a protestant, which may be why she was the official witness. She may not have had the negative feelings (although Lucretia did die at her sister Susan's house... and Susan definitely was Catholic, so I don't know if that would be the case). I can send you the names of William and Louisa's children if you like (at least the ones that were born up until 1869 *a couple were born after that*) I have several sets of Catholic records I can go through. By the way, according to the "Portrait and Cyclopedia of Cambria County" article about Susan Dunn Saly (who married Peter Saly), William was of Irish heritage. There are a few Dunn's I've found in the records, but nothing to prove or disprove a relationship between them and William. Deb.
