    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Dunn, Scott, Kent,Brown, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hlT.2ACEB/1797.1.1 Message Board Post: >From what I have found out. The only records we can check would be in the NJ archives. We need to check the church records there. I do know that our James Kent came from Hampshire Co. Virginia but had a son Silas Kent June 9, 1782 in New Jersey. There are Dunn's in our area of Ohio. I would also check Hampshire Co. Virginia and see if there were Dunn's there. I don't know if you link to us. Dunn is not a name in the cemetery were Silas and some of his children are buried but that doesn't mean that we might not connect. We will have to search the name Dunn in Virginia as well. Thanks for your response. I feel that our Kent line may connect to Richard Kent and Samuel G. Kent and Desire Cushman as well. Their daughter Hannah Kent's family Bible was found in Union Co. Ohio. Our Kents settled in the Union and Madison Co. Ohio area. I do not know where James Kent was in New Jersey. I have discovered that many of the people buried with our Kents possibly had connect! i! ons to Benjamin Franklin. There was a Benjamin Kent in Penn. that was very good friends with Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin was very a very good friend of the Quakers. The people buried in the cemetery, I have been told, were Quakers originally. The Baileys, also buried in the cemetery, were next door neighbors of Benjamin Franklin. The Bailey's were of French descent. This cemetery is called Bigelow Cemetery and John Bigelow went to France and was also connected to Benjamin Franklin. Silas Kent's son Elijah named a son Benjamin Franklin Kent. I am finding bits and pieces that are really becoming interesting. I would suggest you check Penn. for your Dunn. Or even looking thru Benjamin Franklin material. I know that Benjamin Franklin spent some time in New Jersey. He also wrote material on the Indians of Virginia so I would guess that he was there as well. Our Kents were friends of the Indians. They traded often with one another. One of our Kents may have ! bought land from Indians and after the Rev. War, it was given to someone else. They were arrested for trespassing on their own land in Virginia The Bigelow's were also related to General Washington. A spouse was a Custer whom was a cousin, I believe to George. If you go to Google.com and type in anything you want information on, it is a very good site for finding what you need. Good luck. Keep in touch. Are you a member of Ancestry.com? I just found this information in a book by L. Vernon Briggs. This book is on the genealogies of the Kent families. Pg. 294 and more William Kent born March 17, 1786,son of Phineas Kent married Dec. 31, 1808 to Mary Dunn who was born Aug. 8, 1789 and died Feb. 3, 1862 He died Nov. 24, 1817 They had the children. They had these children Elizabeth and Phineas born Sept. 11, 1756 William was the son of David David's father was Stephen and his father before him was Stephen as well. This Stephen was born in England in 1607 and was prominant man in Newberry. He settled in Woodbridge, New Jersey. They were married in Woodbridge, New Jersey but he inherited land in Mass. Jane was his second wife and had two children. Susannah (or Rebecca) b. Dec.21, 1684 David b. June 30, 1686 Stephen was married twice. I know this is confusing. When the book got to David there were only bits of information. Well, from what I just found in this book perhaps we do relate.
