Who is this Betsy Dunn? My information comes from Family trees that have been in the family for nearly 40 years. Also two genealogist were hired to help find some information. The Farris family has great mystery and appeal for us. Tucked away in there is the following information: Note: Spellings are offered as I find them in my paperwork and frequently change.. James Faris 1755-1823, Born in Ireland, married Betsy Dunn 1781. Lived in Needham, Massachusetts then later in Hebron,Maine. Children unknown. His brother was “ Mariner” William Faris, 1754-1837, Born in Ireland, married 1 Elizabeth Laughton 2 Francis Jenkins, lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This William had 10 children. Their father was thought to be a John Faris of England and Ireland. Mother unknown. Their Grandparents were thought to have been Captain William Faris, 1700 - 5.5.1789. and Mary Palmer 1708-1783, married in London 5.7.1730. This Captain came to Boston,Massachusetts and Lived with a Jane Cope, after her husband died. Then when the Captain died, lots of legal things happened to see if Jane Cope had indeed lived with or married the Captain. A fight over inheritance. I have the papers and wills of these two, slave records etc. very interesting. I descend through the Captains son William. Not sure.yet, if he was a brother to James of Hebron. When I saw you had a James Faris of Hebron, I thought there may be some connection. What info. do you have regarding him? What is your faris tree like?
