Never was able to get too much on Nancy. However, the only time I encountered a name close to Shaver was on a census from 1900 showing a Frank Shafer, age 87, born in NC,a brother-in-law, living with John and Nancy. Spelled with an f on the census record but could be a misspelling if you think there is any connection here. Also, from 1870 census records, which you may have, John and Nancy and first-born, I assume, were living with John and Minerva Collins. John M. was 21 yrs. at that time.
