Year ago my grandfather told me his grandmother was named Eliza Kate and that she had several brothers(George, Alfred and James). I also found the 1850 census record as you listed it and I can add a few items for you. The census household #641 is the one with James age 22, his mother, his other siblings and Elizabeth Duncan age 70. In household # 643 it lists Joshua Smith 25, wife Lizzy 21 and sons William 3 and James age 1. Also in this same census you will find in household #642 John Smith 28 and wife Mary age 19 with son Telemicus age 1. I believe that Mary is also a daughter of Jane Dunn. If you skip to the 1860 Stewart Co census and look at household #295 you find James 31 and William 20. In household #297 you'll find Jane Dunn 60, with Allen 18, Martha 24, Amanda 17 AND then living with her is also Telemicus Smith 11 and John Smith age 9. So I am fairly sure this would mean that Jane's daughter Mary married John Smith --that they had died before 1860 census and their children were living with grandmother Jane. Now my Joshua Smith and Eliza Kate are missing in this census but by 1870 census they are listed still living next to Jane Dunn. In the 1870 census Joshua and Eliza K have 11 children. In household next to them it list head of house as Telamicah Smith age 21, Jane Dunn 65 ( she should be age 70), John Smith age 19, Jane's dau. Martha Eguals and Emma Equals age 7. ( Martha's husband must be dead and she and daughter Emma are back with Jane.) living next to Jane is her son Allen 29, with wife Martha 27 and son John age 1. This is all I know about our Dunn/Duncan line. I hope you have had some luck since your 2004 post and can tell me who James and Eliza's parents were!!!! Have you ever done any research for a will for any Dunn in Stewart Co.? That is something I have wanted to do. I look forward to hearing back from you. Margaret
