I believe that these Dunns may be ancestors of my Samuel Marion Dunn (my great grandfather), who lived in Greene and Hamblen Counties, TN, fought in the Civil War on the Northern side, and resided at the time of his death in Whitesburg, TN. Will be glad to give you all of the information I have on this line (Samuel Marion was born about 1818 in Lincoln County, NC; died after February 23, 1871; married Julia Ann Blanton, daughter of John Blanton and Rebecca Hughes and granddaughter of Burwell Blanton, a Revolutionary soldier; Samuel and Julia's children were Dan, Ellen, James A., John, Phillip, Charlotte, Rebecca, Noah, and Samuel. John married (1)Anna Babb and (2)Sarah Jane Swatzel; my mother Bonnie Lucille Dunn Holt, was one of John's 13 children by Sarah Swatzel; John, incidentally, was born in Cleveland County, NC, which adjoins Greene County, TN, one of Tennessee's oldest counties and once a part of NC).
