Not many of those names feature in our Dunn line, except the William one. Ours were Quakers with the bunch that came into GA from NC, and the names on land transactions all around the Dunns were the same names that went to GA with them. You're right about the grouping of names helping track a particular line. The oldest names I've been able to trace are Richard, John, Joseph, Jacob, Benjamin, Robert, William - all in Bladen and Cumberland Counties in NC. The earliest ones showed up there in early 1730s. Then after 1767, there are none of our folks in those areas. Some went to GA, others stayed in NC but in different counties. It's really too bad our line didn't have anything unusual like Drury and Gatewood. Those sort of stand out, don't they - much more than John, Benjamin and Thomas. Anyway, thanks for the info. I always wondered about it. Lanelle Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
