Her name was Edna G. Dunn, in the 1900 census, she was listed as living with a grandmother in Mississippi. She was a toddler, perhaps two or three years old. I don't know where in Mississippi. By the 1920 census, she was already married and the mother of one daughter and expecting another. My mother was born on 18 May 1920. Her name was Millie I. Miller, her father was Jess I.Miller, he was born in TX. They were in Hamlin, Jones Co. TX at that date. I don't know when or how they met, or when or where they were married. My mother's sister was Edna Marguerite Miller. I haven't been able to get access to the 1910 census, at which time she must have only been 12 or 13 years old. Any info would be SO appreciated. One hint about her possible ancestry: My mothertold me she had green eyes, and very dark hair, and when she was angry, she cursed in French! Possibly Cajun or Creole? Also, my mother told me that she found a picture of a Native American couple in a trunk, and asked her mother who they were. Edna screamed at her in French, and boxed her ears! Crying, she asked her father who they were. He chuckled and said "Those are your grandparents, honey!" So, given the speaking French, and being born in Mississippi, that's why I thought she could be Creole or Cajun. Her green eyes skipped me, but my daughter and granddaughter have them. But, the rest of all my lines are traced back into the 1600's, yet I know more about my Maternal Grandfather than I do about my maternal grandmother. Edna G. Dunn/Dunne? I never did get the microfilm. I had some family issues that needed tending to and I stopped doing research for the last year. In the not so distant future, I'm going to write a comprehensive piece on all of the Dunn's of SW Mississippi, since over the years I have collected so much information. When I can get around to it, it will help sort out all of the different Dunn families in that area. Talk to you soon. I need to get away from keyboard and into paper archives for a change of pace. Also, we are dial-up, and a.com comes in so slow, I use the library computer. So contact me at my wife's e-mail : judymarti @ superpa.net Yes, I just got through the forms and Magdalena and William are first family with Blair co. genealogical society. It took a long while to figure out how all three wives and up to 17 or 18 children fit together. My great-great grandfather Thomas (H or J) seems to have left Hollidaysburg in about 1880, and married Sarah Davis, of welsh steel workers in Allegheny County.Pa. The clan moved to Ambridge, where Old economy shut down (Thomas' son Thomas John married one of the daughters of Gottlieb Flueckiger, who was the Harmonite Society's orchardist. Many of the Dunn males died in 1942 & 1943, of heart attacks. My father made it thru WW2 as a combat meteorologist, but died in 1954, at 37; being ill in the war probably contributed. So, that is the story in a nut shell. Deb, on this board, has found out a lot more about the Dunn story than me (she is from Lucretia, daughter of Wm and Mary McCloskey), and has been into genealogy for over a decade. I am also trying to figure out my "Black sheep Grandfather Johnson, who I never met, and his family long lost in the coal fields. I got our family tree up on the site; up to a year ago I only knew a few of them. I wrote one small book about the Dunn's decline, and am now working on one about the family military history. My wife runs our small scale publishing business, and we put one out every coouple years. Mostly, though we hang out in the Blue Ridge Mtns. of Pa. where we run an organic orchard. Hope to hear from you soon, I don't know much about John Dunn. thom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I joined again because of your message. I would be happy to exchange any information I have on the William Dunn family. However, my wife is the relation and her father has asked to be kept out of the info so I would have to keep the information about William and his children. My wife's roots through William (b1817) is through his second wife, Magdelena Sininger and their first born, John Sylvester Dunn b1853. I am interested in your statement about his "tragic" first family. I hope this email finds you. Thanks for your reply earlier. Could she be the mother of my wife's great grandfather, William Mendel Bostic? The family was also of Texas, but her kin somewhat get lost after William Mendel Bostic. It was told that he had some brothers, but no one actually knows of his parents and where else the family went back further. Is the child of Anna Bostic actually William Mendel Bostic?
