    1. [DUNN] More Iowa Dunns
    2. Gale Kaufmann
    3. My Dunns started in Muscatine and Bloomington Township. Then after the Civil War some went to Lytle City near Holbrook in Iowa County. When that little town folded, they went to Parnell, possibly Keota, and eventually Williamsburg. My interest is with the three children of James P. Dunn and Julia Ann Kelly: Lucy (Lou), Katie (Kit), and James Arthur. All were born in Lytle City. Their spouses were, respectively, Billy Reed, Walter Harris, and Mary Ellen Gale. I'm always eager to hear from members of the family.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hlT.2ACEB/2559.2.1 Message Board Post: Dear Linda, Thank you for contacting me via this mode. The Dunn family that we are looking for originated in this county sometime around the 1780's. There are several brothers and sisters that we have looked at - John, Andrew, James and Archibald. We have a good picture of this family but not enough to tie them to my Dunn family coming out of Huntingdon County. We think there is a link, but can't seem to get a handle on it. Andrew was in the Rev War and in documented in records therein, John settled in Butler as did James. Little is known about James as well as Archibald. John has a long and proven family which I would be happy to provide to you. There is a book in the Butler Library called the Mickleys, Dunns and associated families. They won't share it with the library in Tampa, which is not unusual. I will have to com eup and make a copy I guess. I have some of it but not all. I you would send me your email via the normal mode and not through this link I will send you all that we have. Again that you Lynn Wagner ltwcharlie@mindspring.com

I don't know how to reach it but I know Butler Co. Historical Society has a web page that list early settlers. My husband's ggrandfather John G. Dunn was supposedly born in Co. Cork, Ire.. He came here as a boy I expect sometimes in the late 1800's. He married Mary A. Noulette. They had four children; James Thomas, who married Helen G Birckbichler, Mary A, who married Edgar Parker, John G., who married Marie Daugerthy I expect this last name is spelled wrong. All except James Thomas died without issue. James Thomas and Helen G, had four children of which my husband James is one. Apart from this I cannot tell you more, as I have hit a dead end. If this is of any help I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, and good luck. Linda

    3. My family is related to Jesse James in the following way: John Graham Dun Sr. (b. 1814 VA or OHIO) married Elizabeth Claypoole James (b 1821 Ross County Ohio). Jesse James was her cousin to one degree or another. John Graham Dun Sr. was the son of Walter Dun (b. 1782 Stirling SCOTLAND), one of 4 Dun brothers to emigrate from Scotland. I live in Waterloo now and would love to find a connection. All of the Dunn's that I'm aware of were in and around the Des Moines, Ames, and Eldora areas of Iowa. Some moved to Kansas and a few to the Dakotas. If you are able to find a connection here, please get back to me. I also haven't found any Mays in my tree tracing. Sorry. Good luck in your search.
