    1. [DUNN] Funeral homes
    2. The McLendon's
    3. My guncle Jerry Dunn m. Ida Moore and they lived in Indls in the early part of the 1900's. Mom seems to remember Ida helping someone get a funeral home started-don't know what she did. Mom seems to remember a name--Beanblossom. Don't know if the home was there or if that was the name of the person who was starting it. Does that ring a bell with anyone? She seemed to think they may have been related-maybe a cousin or just a friend, but Jerry came from Carroll Co. Ky. and there was a Dunn/???funeral home there at one time. Jerry and Ida had two children, Glen and Leatha living in Indpls about 1930. Thanks, Roslyn

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Arnold/Dunn In Hickman Co. TN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hlT.2ACEB/2727 Message Board Post: I am looking for info on Willie and James Dunn. They had: Jenny Elvie (Elva or Elvira?) Laura Nancy Louise Willie then married Thomas Randl and had 2 sons: Jesse and Carl. Willie then married a Blythe and had a son Ellis. Nancy was my Grandmother and I have traced her husband to Elijah Arnold and Martha (Hutchison) King Elijah was the son of Edward (Ned) Arnold. Ned had a daughter Martha who married J.C. (Hutchison) King. Maybe a step-son since he went by both names? Martha's sister Nancy Arnold married James D. Dunn. This is where I have gotten stuck...Elijah married a Marth King: could this be the daughter of Martha and J.C.? Ned was married twice according to census records for Hickman Co. and both wives were named Mary: Is it possible for Mary to have a daughter Martha that used the Arnold name? I think I am getting dizzy!!! HELP!!!

My records show that Joseph Dunn had two sons, William and Thomas, but there could have been more. Thomas J. was born 10 Nov 1822 and William was born 6 Oct 1825. William m. Sarah Jane Bumpus. I don't know if the J. stands for Joseph or not in Thomas' name. I think that Joseph Dunn must have had more sons and daughters Jim

    1. [DUNN] Dunn Funeral Home
    2. This mortuary theme seems fairly common among the Dunn's. There was a very successful funeral home in Saylersville, KY (Magoffin County?) run by the Dunn family, it may still be in business today. My ggrandfather's brother was among the family that ran it. It later merged or may have originally been named Prater-Dunn Funeral Home I have seen reference to a book or list of folks that were taken care of by this funeral home as the funeral home kept fairly good records. A reference to see is http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymagoff/lookup.htm . The time it operated is 1930 - 1970. My line: John (Va) > John > Asa (KY) > Leander (KY) > McKinley (KY) > Donald (OH) Asa is thought to be from a second marriage of John Dunn. The first marriage was in the Taulbee family.

    1. Re: [DUNN] any relation?
    2. Dear I hope no one is crazy; I am from Louisville, KY originally. My Dunns were also in the mortuary business. Which is what caught my eye. My uncle Robert who died at 33, my step brother, and my aunt & her husband all have been in the business. My great grandfather is from Edmonson or Butler Co, KY. His name was Joshua. I don't have my information on hand. Where does your family originate from (before NM)? JJ, being crazy helps us cope with teenagers...

    1. [DUNN] Joseph Dunn & Hannah Drake
    2. I have added a webpage of the Descendants of Joseph Dunn & Hannah Drake to my Harrison Roots & Branches website. I hope this will be helpful to those of you with DUNN roots. Surnames associated with this line are: DUNN, HARRISON, DUNHAM, MARTIN, VANMETER, BUKEY, HEDGES, PATTERSON, ESTEP, DONOVAN, and others. I would like to point out that I am not a descendant of this line, but that my Harrison family lines have more than one tie to the Dunn lines and I wanted to provide this data to those searching for information on their Dunn ancestry. More will be added as soon as time permits. Please let me know if this information was helpful to you in any way. Be sure to copy and paste the URL inluding the .html on the end.
