I don't know if we connect or not but Ontario and 1882 are two points of interest in my search on my great grandfather, John David Pierce. He immigrated to Ontario from England with a family of Dunns. In 1882 he was about 7 years old and raised his family in St. Catharines where I know a lot of Dunns reside. I am wondering if you know of this at all? I don't even have a first name of the Dunn family. Just thought that I would ask in vague hopes that it rings a bell with someone. Thanks. It proved to not be the line I am researching so I am willing to part with this book. kwithers@kih.net

This info is from handwritten notes given to me by an in-law now deceased. There is likely nothing new for you. Madison Thomas Dunn m.__Marshall and settled in Cashmere (now WV) in the early 1800s. Family legend is that his wife was the daughter of Justice John Marshall, but I have been unable to find any verification. Madison T was the son of Irishman Thomas Dunn and Sarah ?? One of Madison Thomas's sons was Madison who married Cynthia Shumate. Another was James Alexander who married Elizabeth Dillon, my in-laws connection. The www.rootsweb.com/~wvmonroe site has links to census and other resources that may help. Monroe County continues to be rural and is still very much like those early families would have known. There are still Dunn families in the county. Good luck.
