    2. Who is this Betsy Dunn? My information comes from Family trees that have been in the family for nearly 40 years. Also two genealogist were hired to help find some information. The Farris family has great mystery and appeal for us. Tucked away in there is the following information: Note: Spellings are offered as I find them in my paperwork and frequently change.. James Faris 1755-1823, Born in Ireland, married Betsy Dunn 1781. Lived in Needham, Massachusetts then later in Hebron,Maine. Children unknown. His brother was “ Mariner” William Faris, 1754-1837, Born in Ireland, married 1 Elizabeth Laughton 2 Francis Jenkins, lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This William had 10 children. Their father was thought to be a John Faris of England and Ireland. Mother unknown. Their Grandparents were thought to have been Captain William Faris, 1700 - 5.5.1789. and Mary Palmer 1708-1783, married in London 5.7.1730. This Captain came to Boston,Massachusetts and Lived with a Jane Cope, after her husband died. Then when the Captain died, lots of legal things happened to see if Jane Cope had indeed lived with or married the Captain. A fight over inheritance. I have the papers and wills of these two, slave records etc. very interesting. I descend through the Captains son William. Not sure.yet, if he was a brother to James of Hebron. When I saw you had a James Faris of Hebron, I thought there may be some connection. What info. do you have regarding him? What is your faris tree like? My ggg grandfather was another William Farris m. Lucy Stone. They had a daughter Mary Farris that married William Tarbel Shattuck. Looking forward to what you have. a.d. shattuck herbstudys@aol.com

The only records we can check would be in the NJ archives. We need to check the church records there. I do know that our James Kent came from Hampshire Co. Virginia but had a son Silas Kent June 9, 1782 in New Jersey. There are Dunn's in our area of Ohio. I would also check Hampshire Co. Virginia and see if there were Dunn's there. I don't know if you link to us. Dunn is not a name in the cemetery were Silas and some of his children are buried but that doesn't mean that we might not connect. We will have to search the name Dunn in Virginia as well. Thanks for your response. I feel that our Kent line may connect to Richard Kent and Samuel G. Kent and Desire Cushman as well. Their daughter Hannah Kent's family Bible was found in Union Co. Ohio. Our Kents settled in the Union and Madison Co. Ohio area. I do not know where James Kent was in New Jersey. I have discovered that many of the people buried with our Kents possibly had connect! i! ons to Benjamin Franklin. There was a Benjamin Kent in Penn. that was very good friends with Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin was very a very good friend of the Quakers. The people buried in the cemetery, I have been told, were Quakers originally. The Baileys, also buried in the cemetery, were next door neighbors of Benjamin Franklin. The Bailey's were of French descent. This cemetery is called Bigelow Cemetery and John Bigelow went to France and was also connected to Benjamin Franklin. Silas Kent's son Elijah named a son Benjamin Franklin Kent. I am finding bits and pieces that are really becoming interesting. I would suggest you check Penn. for your Dunn. Or even looking thru Benjamin Franklin material. I know that Benjamin Franklin spent some time in New Jersey. He also wrote material on the Indians of Virginia so I would guess that he was there as well. Our Kents were friends of the Indians. They traded often with one another. One of our Kents may have ! bought land from Indians and after the Rev. War, it was given to someone else. They were arrested for trespassing on their own land in Virginia The Bigelow's were also related to General Washington. A spouse was a Custer whom was a cousin, I believe to George. If you go to Google.com and type in anything you want information on, it is a very good site for finding what you need. Good luck. Keep in touch. Are you a member of Ancestry.com? I just found this information in a book by L. Vernon Briggs. This book is on the genealogies of the Kent families. Pg. 294 and more William Kent born March 17, 1786,son of Phineas Kent married Dec. 31, 1808 to Mary Dunn who was born Aug. 8, 1789 and died Feb. 3, 1862 He died Nov. 24, 1817 They had the children. Phineas born Feb. 17, 1810 Naiim or Nahum born July 2, 1812 William born Sept. 17, 1814 Theodore born June 5-12, 1817 William's father Phineas was born Sept. 11, 1756 probably in Piscataway, New Jersey and his wife was Sarah Brown daughter of Reuben Randolph Brown They married on May1,1785 Phineas died June, 1809. Pheneas was enrolled as a private in Capt. John Webster's Co. , Col. David Forman's Battalion, Gen. Nat. Heard's Brigade, N.J. Militia, and took part in battle, Long Island, Aug.27, 1776. William and Sarah's children were William born March 17, 1786 Samuel born Oct.25, 1787 Lost at sea, unmarried David born Nov.22, 1789, never married Reuben born Feb.2, 1792 probably died of yellow fever in New Orleans Clayton born Aug. 5, 1794 Elizabeth born April 29, 1797 married Samuel Stelle, and died in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Jan16, 1886 Huldah born Oct.5, 1799, married Isaac Brown and died about 1820 Phineas was the Son of William and Charity(?) They had these children Elizabeth and Phineas born Sept. 11, 1756 William was the son of David David's father was Stephen and his father before him was Stephen as well. This Stephen was born in England in 1607 and was prominant man in Newberry. He settled in Woodbridge, New Jersey. He was brother of Richard, SR.( to Newberry in 1635 He went home and returned in 1638 in the Confidence from South Hampton with wife Margery and 4-5 servants. He was sworn a freeman in 22May, 1639 Stephen Kent and Jane Scott.Stephen married Jane on Dec.25, 1683 and he died in 1729. They were married in Woodbridge, New Jersey but he inherited land in Mass. Jane was his second wife and had two children. Susannah (or Rebecca) b. Dec.21, 1684 David b. June 30, 1686 Stephen was married twice. I know this is confusing. When the book got to David there were only bits of information. Well, from what I just found in this book perhaps we do relate. 3. Hello folks I wonder if anyone can help me demolish a brick wall. Has anyone come across David and Catherine DUNN (nee LAMPLUGH), married in East Yorkshire, England in 1838 5 children, Ann C., George W., Lamplugh, Priscilla & Robert. I can trace David & Catherine up to 1866 but can find no info after that year. Perhaps they emigrated, Canada has been mentioned in our family but nothing concrete, or maybe they died in a flu epidemic or something like that!! David would be about 46yrs & Catherine 57yrs in 1866. I have scraps of info about the children but any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
