I have no information other then that. This could be something? I have next to no knowledge about my fathers side before him. His father Finest Boyd Hearon (Unless he changed his name - seems to me to be a shady character of sort) left my Grandmother and Father when he was just a small child growing up in Mexia, Texas. I believe he moved out to Tyler, TX or surrounding areas. I know I have some relations in Texas, but I do not have the information to pin anyone down. Sorry I could not supply you with any other information.

Hi Carol, Yes, I did know that Kings County was Offlay County. According to Dennis's 2nd marriage certificate, in 1878 he was 38 years old. On the 1880 Census for Calhoun Co, MI he was listed as being 40 years old. On his death certificate it stated that he had been in the county for 47 years and at the time of his death in 1907, he was 65 years old which when you work it on the birth/death calculator it comes out to about September, 1838. He joined the military for Michigan Volunteers in 1861, which stated that he was 21 years old. I t hink that Dennis came over here about 1853. I have been having a hard time finding that information also since he did not come into the Port of New York or Boston. Kathy in Illinois
Kathy, Did you know that King Co. is now Offlay Co. The name was changed years ago. When was your Dennis Dunn born and when did he come to the states? Sorry to have this post twice, but I forgot to include the names that I am researching. I am looking for more information on my gr-grandfather, Dennis Dunn. I just received military information on him from the National Archives and I was hoping that it would have his parents names on it but it doesn't. HI List, I am looking for more information on my gr-grandfather, Dennis Dunn. Follwing is a posting on the Rootsweb board by Vickie Garmon on July 25, 2000: Copied from original Bible pages which were in possession of Mattie Spurlock, Gadsden, (Etowah County), AL. These pages were found in a box of old photographs passed down to her through her grandmother and mother. FAMILY RECORD BIRTHS William D. Dunn was born April llth 1820 Malinda E. Dunn was born January 25th 1821 James T. Dunn was born January 26th 1850 William N. Dunn was born August the 2nd 1851 David F. Dunn was born Nove 29th 1853 Columbus M. Dunn was born August 17th 1856 John W. Dunn was born March the 29th 1859 Leonidus M. Dunn was born July 29th 1861 (writen in different handwriting at an angle on same page)-B.D.Ballard was born Sept. 9, 1847 [note: Also found in bible was marriage of Wm D. Dunn and Malinda E. Walton.] *************** I believe the above Columbus M. Dunn might have married into my family but have confusing information. Columbus M. Dunn married Victoria Ann Cunnyngham/Cunningham January 1, 1882 according to a researcher in my family. No place is shown for the marriage. The researcher states she was born October 21, 1862 in Calhoun County, Alabama and died August 27, 1921. Burial: Comanche, Stephens County, Oklahoma Problem is I believe this is the Margaret Dunn in the 1910 Rainey Township (near Rocky Township), Washita County, Oklahoma census living next to her father and brothers. Victoria/Margaret's father was James Cunnyngham (family spelling) but he is shown in the 1910 Rainey Township as James Cunningham. He is also buried under that name in the Lone Star Cemetery, near Rocky, Washita County, Oklahoma. Her mother was Frances Malinda Roberts. Margaret Dunn is shown as age 46, and a widow in the 1910 census. She stated she had 6 births and 5 living children. Born AL, both mother and father born, AL. Listed children are Henry A. Dunn, 21, AL AL AL Nass or Nasa Dunn, daughter, 18, AL AL AL Cass or Casa Dunn, daughter, 18, AL AL AL Callie W. Dunn, son, 16, AL AL AL Victoria/Margaret's father was born in Callaway County, Missouri but other members of his extended family were in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama. If anyone can clarify the above information, I would truly appreciate it. Maggie
