    3. My mother was also a DUNN [born in Angelina County, TX]. She once told me that she was distantly related to Buffalo Bill Cody, but I have not discovered any connection [haven't tried]. She mentioned the relationship as we passed through the "community" of Cody, TX. However, when I searched for Cody, TX in the Handbook of Texas Online I found a different town than the one I remember. Here is the text from the Texas Handbook. return to handbook view[PARA]CODY, TEXAS. Cody (Cody Station) was near what is now Farm Road 1774, which parallels the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and three miles northwest of Magnolia, ten miles east of Plantersville, and thirteen miles northeast of Waller in far northeastern Waller County. The town was possibly named for Buffalo Bill Cody and had a post office from 1906, when 150 people lived in the area, until 1909. The Cody Sawmill Commissary housed the post office. A one-room school existed there in 1912. Cody was abandoned when the sawmill, after depleting the area's timber supply, closed. The town was probably gone by the time of World War I.qv [PARA]BIBLIOGRAPHY: Mildred W. Abshier, et al., Former Post Offices Of Waller County (Hempstead, Texas: Waller County Historical Society, 1977). [PARA]Paul M. Lucko [PARA]Recommended citation: [PARA]"CODY, TX." The Handbook of Texas Online. <http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/CC/hrcdj.html> [Accessed Wed May 15 19:17:38 US/Central 2002 ]. [PARA] The community of Cody [not much there], that I know, had an official sign the last time I passed through [probably 30 years ago]. It is located a bit North of I-10, West of Baytown, TX [near Decker Drive]. Hope someone finds this interesting. My cousin, Walter Dunn, once told me that my great-grandfather was ahorseman or good with horses and once worked for Bill Cody, in fact was brought to the USA by him because of his horseman skills. The dates for him to be working for Bill Cody don't jive with with the age of my great granfather , but a Wild West show might easily be confused with Bill Cody. In Ireland we were told the Dunn's were known as expert horseman I'm hitting a brick wall as well so my information is still sketchy. 3. what years are you talking about? There were Dunns in n. Ky. who had horses and raced them not too long ago and probably raised them. I was told my grandfather, Clarence Christopher Dunn who lived in the area usually helped with horses-don't know wht he did, but my mom recalls him going places with them(probably locally in Ky.). This was probably in the 20's & 30's. The first time I recall meeting my grandfather, he put me on a horse. Roslyn
