I have a James Dunn born Wigtown Scotland in 1826...then I lost him...but his brother William (b 1831 married and lived in Durham County England from about 1862 to 1875..then moved back to Scotland....perhaps there is a connection? Joan, admin [email protected] Hello, Am not a Dunn researcher, but while cleaning the garage found a collection of genealogical records that include Dunns, Hewetts, Newmans and Woods. The books appear to be primarily a Dunn family genealogy, but the backing of the books bear the name; Virgil Lee Wood (who married Georgia Clydene Newman) and his daughter, Sheryl Lynn Wood. The papers are in three large three ring notebooks which are in mediocre condition and weigh between 12 - 15 pounds. . The notebooks were decorated with a paint which has smeared and become sticky over the years. There are copies of lots of notes, news articles, pictures, marriage certificates etc. . The papers in the notebooks are in protectors and are in excellent condition. Greetings I just found this list and would like to say that I live in Canada and have been tracing my family name back thru Wigtownshire in Scotland My grandfather John C Dunn and his wife Margaret Blair moved to Montreal in about 1903 and I have lost touch with the rest of the Dunns The best record I can find is for John Dunn (born Jan 1793 barony) and Mary Gardener (born Mar 1800 in Neilston Renferw). they and their family are listed in the 1841 and 1851 Wigtownshire census and then the only one I can find after that is their son William Dunn who married Jane Hannay and bought the brick yard in Prestonpans in about 1874 where he and his family showed up in the 1881 census. The only other one I have a record for is George Dunn - brother of William, who moved to Montreal and died there in 1879. Any of this click with anyone else? John Dunn
