Hi Barb, saw your letter to Jack Dunn. I thought he might be related to John in Peru, Indiana-his dad was Frank and his name is John Frank Dunn. Haven't heard anything about that, but don't know. Shame we can't pin down the Indiana group more. Roslyn

A lot of my family seems to have gone to that area. I have not followed that part of the family, but John Dunn and Rachel Porter Dunn lived there for a time and they had a g son I believe, George, who was there. Other branches, also. That would be around Indy I believe.

But I decided to go look again and found a section on the Agnews. I"m not sure if this is part of the Original booklet, Our Pioneer Ancestors or not. But when I went to Ancestry.com and entered Our Pioneer Ancestors, I got three booklets, or three sectons of the same booklet. Not sure.. Anyway, one section lists the families of: Search > Family & Local Histories > Our pioneer ancestors : being a record of available information as to the Riggs, Baldridge, Agnew, Earle, Kirkpatrick, Vreeland I'm going to attempt to give you a link here, but not sure if it will work or not: http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/BookView.aspx?dbid=12600&iid=dvm_GenMono001822-00065-0&sid=&gskw=&cr=0 So, hopefully, you can go see for yourself. I hope this helps in some way. I know I have found invaluable info about my James Dunn through the section tht includes the Dunns. Barb Dunn Grainger

I was reading this little booklet again on Ancestry.com and decided to read some parts that I haven't read before because they did not have anything to do with my particular James Dunn. At any rate, I did find a mention of a James Agnew, brother of Rebecca Agnew. She married a William Baldridge. This information was found in Chapter 19, the Finley family. If you have access to Ancestry.com I think this may be a good place for you to look. If you can't find it on ancestry.com please email me at [email protected] and I'll try to send you a link. Barb

Martha Long in Ireland and came to the colonies. My line goes through their son Samuel, also b. in Ireland I don't know if this will help or not. But there is a little book that has a lot of information about the Dunns, James Dunn and Martha Long and their descendants and some families that married into the family. In the book it talks about a McKee family . It could be that this McKee family may be your McGee family?? You never know. It is a long shot. Anyway, the book can be found on Ancestry.com You go to Search, then Family and Local Histories, then Our Pioneer Ancestors and you can read the book. I don't know if this is your line or not. But sounds like they came here about the same time. Unfortunately, the book does not have information about them when they were in Pennsylvania or info about them in Ireland other than to say that they and the Brewsters (who married into the family) lived at the same village in Ireland and Jame's son, Samuel Dunn m. Elinor Brewster. But it has tons of other information related to the Dunn family of that time. I have some McGees on my mother's side, who married into the Guinn family. But I don't think we have a connect there either. I hope this helps a little. Barb

There may have been AGNEWs who emigrated with Hance HAMILTON and were at Marsh Creek. Would the Dunn family have been neighbours ? ............................................................................... Jack, I am not sure if Dunns and Agnews emigrated from near "Hamilton's Bawn" co. Down, N. Ireland, but someone may recognize times and places in connection with a Dunn family. James Hamilton left a will in 1748 in Lancaster Co., Pa. Hance Hamilton was named as brother and executor. The date of arrival of Hance Hamilton and the 140 families (incl. McCains) was 24 August 1729. That's the date that the "Diligence of Glasgow" arrived, and though no passenger list has been found, they have confirmed that a number of the families among the 140 were on that ship. This, then, would be the date, and the ship, that the McCains almost certainly arrived on (since they were supposedly among the 140 families). In one document John Hamilton "County of Londondery now aboard The Diligence of Glasgow" made his will on 30 Jun 1729 (apparently while still on the ship). He died, apparently, after the ship arrived at New Castle, Delaware because on 22 September 1729, an inventory was made of his estate. At the time he was of "Penns/Pena(?) Neck, which may be where the families were located in the first few months after their arrival. Hance Hamilton, Sr., was accompanied on this migration by three brothers: James (d. 1748, above), John (who might have been the signer of the Marsh Creek protest), and William. Perhaps Capt. Hance Hamilton was from “Hamilton’s Bawn” co. Down, N. Ireland ?

Dear List, I am working on some family lines from Craven Co., NC for a friend of mine. She descends from Asa Dunn of Craven Co., NC. Asa Dunn was born circa 1825 and died 5 Aug 1862 after being released from a Federal Prisoner of War Camp. He married Chloe Spight/Speight in 1848. If there is anyone out there that has any knowledge of either this Dunn or Spight family, please email me . Thanks in advance for your help.
