HI: I saw your post on the Dunn website, with following I suppose you might have been refering to Carroll Co.TN.I have looked at this John Dunn as being a possible for the Father of My William H.Dunn and also he has a Brother John RDunn.I know they were in Carroll Co.TN in 1846, as he and Burlene Sillavent wre married there. William was b.1820 TN/NC and John Ransun Dunn b.1824.Have you anything like a family tree that I might look at to compare? I am looking for information on my grandpa Edward Dunn. His middle name was Michael but not sure if he ever used that name. He was born on June 11, 1893 or 1894 in England, came to the US in 1907, and was naturalized in 1917. He married Anna Mahoney around 1913-1914 and had 3 kids. There are Edward[Ed], b. 1915, Philip[Phil, Philly] b. 1916, Elizabeth[Betty], b.1918, and Julia b.1920. I have found a 1920 census but that was done before my mom Julia was born. Since then, it is like they fell off the end of the world. I can't find them anywhere. If anyone has any information whether it be birth, death, marriage or any other you can contact me directly at [email protected] Thank you Barb

Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes, but please put a state behind the name of the town so we have an idea of where you are talking about. Roslyn
Hi Barb, how are you doing? It drives me nuts when people ask something and don't tell you where it is-they must think everyone knows what state every town is in. Are you getting any of the rain we are having here? It has been raining on and off all week, and even when it isn't raining it is drizzly. I am finding a few things-will send you one thing I found on Jeremiah Dunn at the courthouse in Carroll County if I can find it. I put it out for Dunn Diggers, too. Ros Here it is. Don't know if this is our John or not, there are so many cousins, but rather think so. Shows he is alive in 1849. Joe thought he died in Indianpolis area, which might be true. Think he would be Jeremiah's brother. Ros We W. Cox and H. where is Port Leyden?
<<1860 Edgecombe Census>> Where is Edgecombe County?? You should try to add a state or country at least as we are not all familiar with every county in every state or every county in every country. You will probably get more help if you can add more information. Married Lewis J Leland(Lalonde) 9-14-1867. Children were Lewis J, William, and Mary Catherine. Mary Dunn died in Port Leyden 9-20-1877.
I'm hoping to hook up with any cousins related to the William Dunn listed in the subject line. William Dunn, son of William Dunn and Ellen Neill, was born around September 26, 1841 in Milltown, County Kildare, Ireland. He had a number of brothers and sisters born in Ireland: James, born around 1844 Eliza, born around 1846 Christopher, born around 1849-died before 1857 Thomas, born around 1854 John, born around 1855 and at least two born in Smithfield (later incorporated into Woonsocket), RI Christopher, born around 1858, married Johanna Griffiths in 1876 and eventually settled in Worcester, MA Dennis, born around 1860 Ellen and the children emigrated to the US aboard the ship Thornton, arriving in New York on August 24, 1857. The elder William was not with them; I think he came ahead of them. William served in the 4th and 7th RI infantry in the Civil War, as did James. On August 14, 1865, at St. Charles Church in Woonsocket, RI, William married Catherine Rourke, also of Milltown, County Kildare. Their children included: Ellen "Nellie" (1869-1921), who married Louis Lavoie Annie M. (1871-1946) Catherine A. (1873-1951) Elizabeth G. "Lizzie" (1875-1920), who married Leonard Marion Guertin (1877-1946) James Charles (1877-?)... I've also seen him listed as Charles James Theresa J. (1880-1899) William's father, also William, was born around 1820 and Ellen Neill was born around 1826. Any information about William and Ellen Neill Dunn or about their descendants would be welcome! Good hunting! Susan Huff
To all- As I previously let you know, our list has been successfully migrated over to the new list management software with one exception. The following note is ONLY for those subscribers who had been subscribed to the list in both L and D modes. If you were subbed in both L and D modes you were previously advised that you would be carried over in L mode only -- and that is how it was supposed to be. But we all know the best laid plans can go awry and they did. The migration put the addresses in Digest mode only if they were previously subbed to both modes. I have no way of identifying who was subbed in both modes and who was only in D mode prior to the migration. So if you are one of the people who are now subbed ONLY in Digest mode and you would like to be switched back to L mode--please contact me privately and I'll switch you over to L mode. You cannot sub with the same address under the new system to both modes--you need to use an alternate address if you wish to receive BOTH modes. For those subbed in Digest mode who want to remain in Digest mode you can also contact me privately if you are unhappy with hte new digest format--and I can switch you back to the old format individually. Thanks! Joan, admin

Hi, All- I just wanted to let you know that our list has been successfully migrated to the new management system. If the updated list migration schedule posted here: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html ...remains in force, then lists beginning with D-F will be migrated on Monday (tomorrow) to the new list management system. I previously sent a notice to the list explaining how those changes might affect the list members--if you need a refresher check for my admin post in the list archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Type in the listname and select the current month/year to browse and look for my admin message. The problems with AOL blocking mail from the new server have been resolved so hopefully things will go smoothly. Joan, admin
