I managed to acquire copies of the entries in Pigot's 1837 National Commercial Directory for the districts of Dumbarton, Helensburgh, Old Kilpatrick, Cumbernauld and Vale of Leven . Also I copied Slater's 1860 Commercial Directory entries for Dumbarton, Vale of Leven and Cumbernauld so email me if you want me to check out any names of shopkeepers, farmers, ministers, doctors, and the "gentry".
