I shall have to unsubscribe for a while due to heavy other workload. I'm not having much success in tracking down WILLIAM'S departure from Scotland by ship between 1859 and 1868, as a stowaway (if the family stories are true) or as a crew member or as an assisted passage immigrant. This task is made even more difficult if the information that I have by letter from the Maritime Museum on The Clyde, is correct, that all except every 10th year of ship passenger records were given (!) to the University of Newfoundland.
