    3. Hi All, On Sunday Alan wrote giving a very good history of the names of the town and the county. It seems to me that I read somewhere "dun" means rock. Therefore, dun Briton (or dun Barton) would mean rock of Briton. I vote for Dunbartonshire. Also it is easier for me to say "nb" than "mb". :-) (Probably because of a genetic overbite somewhere along the line. <grin>) Thanks for the information, Alan.
