Hello all. My gg grandfather William Robert CAMPBELL married Jane SINCLAIR, and though they married in England (and had been born elsewhere) they lived in Dumbarton and had most of their children there. William Robert CAMPBELL, (son of William CAMPBELL and Agnes WILSON) chr 4 Mar 1838 Lanark, married Jane SINCLAIR (dau. of Colin SINCLAIR and Margaret TOLMIE) chr 7 Aug 1840 Ross & Cromarty, on 25 Dec 1862 at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England. William Robert CAMPBELL was a Boilermaker, and died 2 Dec 1884 in Dumbarton. His widow, Jane, died 17 May 1918 in Paisley, Renfrew at the home of her son-in-law, D? KERRAN, Love Street, Paisley. (Jane may have had a brother, Colin SINCLAIR, also born Ross & Cromarty and also living nearby in Dumbarton in the 1880's.) William and Jane lived in Dumbarton at 16 Clyde Street and at 4 Victoria Street. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can tell me anything about these streets. They had the following children: William b. 4 Feb 1864 Dumbarton, married (Agnes Wilson HILL) 27 Dec 1889 Dumbarton Colin 1866 Dumbarton John 1868 Falkirk Elizabeth 1871 Renfrew James 1873 Dumbarton Robert 1874 Dumbarton Charles A. abt. 1879 Dumbarton While I would love to find a fellow researcher on this line, I would also greatly appreciate any information at all on Dumbarton. I am planning to visit Scotland for the first time next year, and hope to be able to find where these ancestors lived. And of course, I would be delighted to find living descendents there! All the best, Terry Beer Lund BC Canada
