I have just looked up Janet Thomson in the 1841 census and found two possible families, one of whom lived in Row, Dunbartonshire. Since the Father was given as Dugald and the Mother, Marion this doesn't explain in one of the later census', when James was Head, the reference to Janet, Ma-in-Law but that may have been a mistake at the time.
