    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gillianborland1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.dnb.general/2723.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The main old cemetary in Cumbernauld is at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church in Cumbernauld Village; the slightly more recent council-run cemetary is immediately beside it. I would suggest contacting the church in order to find out if they still have any records from their own cemetary (their website and contact details are at http://www.cumbernauldold.org.uk/) or if they've passed them on to the council or central archives. For other local cemetaries, I would suggest contacting the local council (www.northlan.gov.uk). I was at the council archives (in Cumbernauld) a few months ago and the archivist there told me that they would be getting the burial records fairly soon; I don't know if that's happened yet. The website for the archives is at http://www.northlan.gov.uk/leisure and tourism/museums and heritage/archive centre/default.html - I found them very helpful when I was there. I notice you have the name "Young" listed in your surnames; are your Youngs from Cumbernauld? I have a Jean Young (my 3xgreat-grandmother) in my tree, born about 1810 in Cumbernauld, who married a William Hall in 1828 and lived in Cumbernauld almost all her life.
