Had the following info sent to me... ****************************************************** Dear John: Your time frame is a bit unpromising for Roman Catholics, but just right for the Free Kirk and the village of Duntocher was an early center. I would be willing to bet that your people along with most of Duntocher went to the "Free". Many Free Kirk parish records were never collected to a central point when they rejoined the Church of Scotland, but were merely stored in the regular parish kirk or its manse. This is what happened in Gartmore. Thanks for your other stray M'F's e-mail of late. regards, ******************************************************* Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of the Free Kirk in the Village of Duntocher? Would it have existed in the early to mid 1800's? Does it exist now? thanks, John
