    3. Tim Rowantreebank, which still exists, is an old house on Main street, Alexandria. It is now sandwiched between a younger house and a late Victorian red sandstone tenement which forms a corner into Upper Bridge Street. This latter building has "stolen" the name "Rowantreebank", which seems to apply to the above-mentioned stretch of buildings now - though their official addresses nowadays will be street numbers. Rowantreebank is not next to the River Leven - about a third of a mile away. The "bank" would be sloping land on which, presumably, there was at one time (about 1800?) a rowan tree.
