Hello Ramona I don't have anything directly linking to your Alexander Chalmers but do have Chalmers ancestors slightly earlier in Roseneath and Row (Helensburgh) in Dumbartonshire. My ancestor is John Chalmers who married Margaret Niven on 28 June 1791 in Roseneath. He had 2 daughters and possibly other children. The daughters were Margaret who married Alexander McAuslan in November 1829 in Row and Christian (or Christian Mary) who married Duncan McCallum on 17 December 1839 in Helensburgh. Christian Chalmers McCallum was my great great grandmother and was born about 1805. I don't have a birth date for Margaret. There were other relations named Chalmers, as Christian's death in 1874 was registered by a cousin named either John or James Chalmers. If any of these names link with your family, we may be related.
