    3. David The best history of this area is still John Bruce's "History of the Parish of Old Kilpatrick" (1893). There was a facsimile reprint of this book a few years ago, and it might still be available through an internet bookseller like Amazon. If you have difficulty tracking it down, let me know, and I'll try to get further information. Off the top of my head - the shipyard at Bowling was a small but thriving and respected one. Latterly it was called Scott & Sons (Bowling) Ltd., but I believe that at one time it was known as Scott & McGill's. The "Scott" was from a local family; but SCOTT was a very popular surnmame in the Bowling area of Old Kilpatrick Parish. Your McKENZIES would likely be incomers. Hope this is a help.
