Greetings Everyone I have a typewritten GRO extract of an 1872 marriage entry that lists the maiden name of the bride's mother as Christina SLACKSLY (married to a John COOPER). I have traced the family back to the Parish of Kirkintilloch in the year 1851. My dilemma is in the surname SLACKSLY. I have yet to find this name in any census that I've looked at or on any surname list that I've searched. It didn't appear on Scots ORIGINS either when I did a search last week nor did anything remotely resembling the name show up on a marriage search to John COOPER. Has anyone come across this surname in any of their research, especially the 1851 census for Kirkintilloch? I'm starting to get the impression that the name was transcribed incorrectly when the extract was typed up in 1985. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
