I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me whether there are directories for Alexandria and Balloch for the period 1912 to 1922. My mother recalls being taken from her home in Dumbarton to visit relatives who had a grocer's shop in either Alexandria or Balloch. The family lived above the shop. Unfortunately she can't remember the name of the family. I would probably recognise the name if I saw it, as I've done quite a lot of research on both of my maternal grandparents' sides, but I don't really know where to look, neither do I want to wait for the 2011 census.
