There is a page of explanations at the front of each book, but it does not make everything clear. The number is the sequence in the book, and has no relevance to the burial plot in the cemetery. In the above case, I would read it as probably in the original: "erected by Andrew Rochead of Dunniblae [probably farm name] in memory of his second son, Robert, who died at Condorrat [village in Dumbartonshire] 18th February 1824 aged 7 years."
