Hello Nancy I don't know whether there is any connection but my grandfather's sister Ellison McCALLUM, born 1878 in Helensburgh, worked for several years as lady's maid to the daughter of a Sir ? Ure, either Solicitor-General or Advocate-General for Scotland. I think he was later made a Lord. This would have been around 1900-1905 and I think the Ures had a large house in Helensburgh or possibly in Cardross (they are adjacent areas). I found an entry for these Ures in an old edition of Burke's Peerage in the public library here with more information about the Ure family. Any connection with your Ures.
