Dumbain Farm, along with a number of other farms in the neighbourhood were owned by a Mr James Hill Kippen of 8 Oxford Terrace, Edinburgh. Mr Kippen died in 1887 and the Trustees of his Estate (also Kippens) rented out the farms. My Great great grandfather John McCaskel took over Dumbain Farm from 1889 to 1898.
