Ann Kirk will recognise a SMELLIE with John BRYSON so that connects with her too if she has no PETTIGREW. The ROWAT name is my paternal grandmother and its their tree that has GRAHAM and STIRLING as well as DICK & BRYSON as far as I know. My CHESTER or CHESTERS of Glasgow have the PETTIGREW marriages. I have an Elizabeth MURDOCH who is my father's Mother,. Her parents were Peter MURDOCK b 1815 and Margaret BOYLE b about the same time, and they were married on 8 March 1861. There seems to be a connection with Ireland in that I suspect they went to find work there. I have a Margaret PETTIGREW born 2 January 1843 which was passed to me by my cousin - I've just checked again in IGI and thought I might as well list them as they appear there: Results for: Birth/Christening, Scotland, British Isles Father: Alexander Pettigrew, Mother: Jean Murray Exact Spelling: Off [refine search] [Print] Prepare selected records for download International Genealogical Index / British Isles - 9 Select records to download - (50 maximum) 1. WILLIAM WILSON PETTIGREW - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 04 MAY 1855 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland There are in fact entries for John by a member of the Church so I havent listed them. My father had the MUNN name as his middle name so there must have been a strong affilliation with this family. Ellen PETTIGREW b 22 March 1864 was illegitimate and her parents were James PETTIGREW and Helen HOLMES. Ellen married Edward CHESTER b 14 March 1863 on 3 April 1891 There is a first cousin marriage in this family also: James Pettigrew CHESTER was b on 28 December 1895 son of Ellen & Edward CHESTER married Elizabeth Murdoch CHESTER b 21 September 1901 on 22 January 1926. She died on 2 May 1984 Glasgow. I have just one son for them at this time namely James Edward CHESTER b 9 November 1930 There were two other sons for Edward CHESTERS and Elizabeth MURDOCH namely Edward CHESTER b 16 August 1893 who married Annie ROYAN b abt 1893 on 12 July 1923 and John Irvine CHESTER b 15 September 1897 who married Louisa SNIDER b 13 May 1901 I havent got the date because I have 2 John Irvine CHESTER names - I'll get back to you on this one. I have a John DICK who married Margaret FINDLAY on 28 April 1827. Children of their marriage were Agnes DICK b 29 October 1837 and Grace DICK b 3 April 1840. I think Ann Kirk may have more of these names in her BRYSON tree. There's another name that has occurred to me and it is HORN Give me more time to digest your names and I'll tell you if I can come up with any more. Maybe what I have mentioned might interest someone else because this is how I find it happens.
