But you could be right about your William Sr. ( Margaret's husband) and my David's father. His name was John McKinlay and his siblings were William, Cath., and Robert. That William was born c1824 so that would work out about right, wouldn't it? They were all born in Edinburgh. But I haven't had any luck finding marriage or death info on John's 3 siblings. I have spent a fair bit of money on Scotland's People website and find it very frustrating. I don't know whether to put it down to so many possible spellings(I've tried many, many) of the name or to the fact that maybe they just didn't bother registering any BMD's OR.... did they all leave the country??? Will keep trying and will share any info I have that you may want. Let me know.
