Davie, I have a copy of the 1868 marriage record of William McKinlay and Jessie Marshall. We already know William's parents as William and Margaret(Rutherford) McKinlay. Jessie's parents are listed as James Marshall and Martha Moin. As documented by Scottish census data, William and Jessie had Annie, Mary, William, Alexander, Robert, and John McKinlay. They lived in Milngavie. On an 1899 immigration manifest I see Jessie and sons William and John going from Glasgow to Boston to a dauther/sister Ruth in Pawtucket, RI. My grandfather remembers hearing that his great uncle was deformed in one arm as noted on the manifest. Jessie lived with both sons at different times. William became a foreman in a Manchester, NH textile mill. John also worked in mills in Pawtucket, RI and fought in WW I under the Canadian flag as he did not have American citzenship. John McKinlay (My gg great father) sent for his bride, Elizabeth Balderson from Manchester England in 1904. We know h! er mother was Scottish but have no idea how they met. We think both families had ties to Edinburgh. They named my great grandmother (who I remember very well) Jessie Marshall McKinlay. Thanks to both of you for all your efforts. I'll be happy to email any files you want. This is both frustrating and fun. Kate
