    3. Hi ThurnX This is to correct the dates I gave for Scotland's Great Disruption. The various events of the Disruption took place over more than a decade decade but 18 May 1843 is generally to be "Disruption Day" when 193 of the Church of Scotland ministers marched out of the Assembly in Edinburgh in protest the practice of heritors appointing the ministers in each church instead of the individual congregations. Eventually the Free Church of Scotland with about 33% of the people created 700 new congregations throughout Scotland. These new congregations were inconsistant in maintaining BMD registers and the situation was so chaotic over the next dozen years that civil registration was established in 1855 After many transformations over the next eighty-six years the most of the presbyterian churches in Scotland were united again in 1929.
