Someone known as Janet <wightway@clara.co.uk> scribed the following at 18:14:07 on Sun, 28 Dec 2008, allegedly: >Isnt it about time that we had an exchange of surname interests again. >I can speak of how I met a cousin or two from my subscription to this >group and it could be we have new subscribers since who have similar >name interests. My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Margaret ROWAT >who married Walter Munn CHESTER. Elizabeth's roots were in Mull in >CAMPBELL and McKINNON and LIVINGSTON and before them the INNES and >STEPHEN of Rathven, Banff. My family came from Rathven in Banffshire as well, in one generation they moved from there, via Edinburgh and various parts of Lanarkshire & Renfrewshire to Old Kilpatrick in Dunbartonshire, arriving sometime between the 1881 and 1891 census. Mostly they are Kemps, but there are Dewar; Tierney; McColgan (including a great Uncle who emigrated to NZ, joined the forces during WW1, won a Military Medal and then got killed in action); Bonar; McBrearty; McLachlan, Wright and others. All details I have are on the web at http://www.billykemp.org.uk/phpmyfamily/ -- James Kemp see Alexander at http://www.ajkemp.org/gallery/ or my games at http://www.full-moon.info/
