Hello, I am new to the list and have a very basic question that I hope someone will be willing and able to answer for me. My paternal grandfather, James YOUNG (born c. 1892), was listed as living at : 20 Dumbarton Road, Old Kilpatrick at the time of his marriage to Isabella JACK on 13 August 1918. Could someone tell me what the area was like, possibly refer me to a source for photographs of the time and place, and inform me of what James, by profession a journeyman joiner, might likely have been doing for employment in the area? I know he might well have traveld to another site for work but was Old Kilpatrick, by any chance, an area known for woodwork? I will be most appreciative of any information. Thank you.
