Thanks so much. -----Original Message----- From: Norman <norman1@spidernet.com.cy> To: lewisb@vitrex.net <lewisb@vitrex.net> Date: Monday, October 04, 1999 6:14 AM Subject: Family Research I am trying to trace my maternal great-grandfather's family. His name was Thomas Wilson Bayne, and according to the 1891 Census his address was "Larchfield", Colquhoun Street, Row, Helensburgh. I believe that this must be the Larchfield Academy where John Logie Baird went to school. In the 1881 Census Thomas Bayne was listed as a Teacher of Classics, living at 21 Colquhoun Street, but my mother says that he founded his own school, hence my assumption regarding Larchfield Academy. I wonder whether I am right? There were 13 children in the family, including my mother's father, Thomas Walter Bayne who was born in 1873. I am trying to find out something about his academic record, and that of his brother Arthur Munby Bayne (d.o.b. 1884). Both Thomas and Arthur went on the become doctors of medicine. I am also hoping to find out something about the other members of the family, including Charles S. Bayne (d.o.b. ABT. 1877). I believe that he was quite a famous author, and had ! at least one book illustrated by C.J. Tunnicliffe. I think there must be something in the Dumbarton Central Library- and perhaps elsewhere - about this family. I would like to know any background material that is available as I know very little about them. My E-mai contatct number is norman1@spidernet.com.cy. I look forward to hearing from you.l
