I am new to the list. I would like to find out more about my HOWAT family. What I know, George HOWAT (parents William HOWAT and Jane ?) born about 1819 and died in the Poor House in Kirkintilloch 14 November 1873. George married Marion BURNS, no date, and they had three children that I have found: John Burns born about 1845, Marion born about 1846 and Ann born about 1848 - all in Kirkintillock. I have yet to find this famiy in a census. It would appear that all three children left Kirkintillock and moved, John to Kilsyth where he was married to Margaret LOCKHART in 1864, Marion and Ann to Glasgow where they were both married. Marion to John Storer BLYTH 28 December 1866 and Ann to James HAMILTON in 3 April 1874. I have no information on Marion BURNS as to birth and death. She apparenty died as George married Margaret WARDROSS at some point. I have checked both the death and marriage indexes, but with no luck. Anyone with any information about these families would be greatly appreciated. Isobel, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
